MarginGuard

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 25, 2026

Overview

MarginGuard helps Shopify merchants review product costs, order profit, promotion risk, ad spend, refunds, and margin trends. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how merchants can request deletion.

Data we process

When installed, MarginGuard may process store information, product and variant information, inventory item cost data, order and refund information, app subscription status, app settings, manually entered cost data, CSV imports, and generated profit snapshots.

MarginGuard does not intentionally collect customer payment card numbers. Shopify handles payment processing and provides only the order data needed for margin calculations.

How we use data

We use merchant data to calculate estimated product margins, order profit, cost coverage, promotion risk, SKU rankings, simulator results, and analytics shown inside the app. We do not sell merchant or customer data.

Storage and service providers

App data is stored in a hosted database and processed by the app server infrastructure used to run MarginGuard. Access is limited to what is needed to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the app.

Retention and deletion

Store-specific app data is retained while the app remains installed and as needed for operation, troubleshooting, legal compliance, or abuse prevention. Merchants can uninstall the app from Shopify admin. We also process Shopify privacy webhooks for customer data requests, customer redaction, and shop redaction where applicable.
